The Web Archive of Contemporary Georgian Visual Art www.art.gov.ge is a long-term digital project initiated by the Ministry of Culture of Georgia.

Established in 2009, it continues to grow as a regularly updated online resource dedicated to Georgian visual art.

The archive is the first structured digital database in Georgia to bring together information on artists, art institutions, and key developments in the field of contemporary Georgian visual art. Its mission is to support the visibility and promotion of Georgian art locally, regionally, and internationally.

The portal provides broad public access to artists’ biographies, digital galleries of their works, information on local and international art institutions, as well as the exhibition history and catalogues of the Georgian National Gallery.

The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Georgia and implemented by the Georgian National Museum within the framework of the “Support for Culture” programme.

What is interesting in Art.gov.ge?

The interested public has the opportunity to obtain information about Modern and Contemporary period Georgian visual arts; to gain access to the artists’ biographies and artworks, as well as government-sponsored art events.
